About Nicosulfuron |
Nicosulfuron is a sulfonylurea herbicide for corn field grass weeds control discovered by Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha, Ltd. in the mid-1980s. It was jointly developed by Ishihara and DuPont from 1987 to 1988. Nicosulfuron has successively obtained various patents in various countries in the world. The related products include chlorimuron-ethyl, Tribenuron, bensulfuron-methyl and 34 such products, all of which have high activity, strong selectivity, low dosage, broad herbicidal spectrum and other advantages, thus are widely used.
Among them, nicosulfuron is the most widely used and is the dominant species in the global sulfonylurea herbicide market. At present, nicosulfuron has been widely registered worldwide, including nearly 60 countries (regions). |
China Production and Supply |
The China patent of nicosulfuron expired in 2007, followed with a rapid capacity expansion in China. The release of nicosulfuron capacity was mainly concentrated in 2008-2011. In 2011, it reached 3,600 tons (100% basis, the same below), and it was released again in 2012-2016. In 2020, China's effective production capacity of nicosulfuron will be around 4,000 tons, with an output of approximately 3,600 tons.
The production enterprises of technical are mainly concentrated in Jiangsu Fengshan, NAB, Anhui Fengle, Jingbo Agrochemical, Anhui Jiuyi and Anhui Huaxing. China's planned new production capacity of nicosulfuron is mainly concentrated in companies such as Hebei Chengxin, Lier Chemical and Jiangsu Changqing. It is estimated that the total new production capacity will be about 3,500 tons in the future. By then, China's nicosulfuron production capacity will reach more than 7,000 tons. |
